What it is: a large, low-cost manufacturing service (jlc3dp.com, part of the JLCPCB family). It is usually the cheapest way to get one small part printed, with an instant quote and a wide material list.

Fit for the squeezer: good on material (it offers FDM in PETG), with one caveat: it ships from overseas, so if you are not nearby, plan for customs. See the note below.

Before you start: have lemon_squeezer.stl ready; decide FDM and PETG.

The exact steps

  1. Go to jlc3dp.com and open the 3D printing instant quote.
  2. Drag in lemon_squeezer.stl. It also takes STEP and 3MF. The model renders with an instant price.
  3. Choose the process: FDM, then material: PETG, a color, and if offered set the infill and layer height (0.2 mm layer, 20 to 30 percent infill match this book's settings).
  4. Set the quantity to 1 and add to cart. Read the price, which is low for a part this size.
  5. At checkout, choose the shipping method carefully. For delivery outside its home country, pick a DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) option by courier (such as DHL or UPS) if available: it rolls the import duty into the price up front, so you are not surprised by a separate customs or brokerage bill on arrival.
  6. Register a free account (the JLCPCB login works here too), pay, and place the order.
  7. When it arrives, run the arrival inspection checklist, then do the food-safe finishing (Chapter 14) and the five tests (Chapter 15).

Don't be confused. A low part price is not the whole cost on an international order. Standard mail can sit in customs for a week or more and then add a brokerage fee that dwarfs the part. The DDP courier option avoids the surprise; budget for it, and do not pick JLC3DP for speed if you have a good domestic option.

What is different about JLC3DP: the lowest per-part price, at the cost of distance. Best when price matters more than speed, or when you order several things at once to share the shipping.

Time and cost: the part itself is cheap. Production is quick, but international shipping plus customs is the slow part: allow one to a few weeks unless you pay for an express DDP courier.
